This Northrop Grumman Information Systems (NGIS) position works on the Systems Engineering, Management and Sustainment (SEMS) II contract supporting the Air Force Weather Agency (AFWA) at the Joint Center for Satellite Data Assimilation (JCSDA) in Camp Springs, Maryland. Job duties includes advancement of a 4DVAR capable GSI system and improved satellite-based land data assimilation techniques. This position will also support development of advanced multi-dimensional and ensemble based satellite data assimilation techniques which make use of future sensors. Intended outcome of such pursuits is the eventual transition of these new technologies to AFWA in order to support DoD and JCSDA partner agencies.

Basic Qualifications:

• M.S in Meteorology, Remote Sensing, or related field

• 3 - 5 years experience in remote sensing field

• Demonstrated ability to conduct research and transition research results into operational capability

• Understanding of data assimilation techniques

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

• PhD in Meteorology, Remote Sensing, or related field and 0 years experience

• Previous experience at the JCSDA
