Postdoctoral Position in Environmental Remote Sensing
The Center for Spatial Technologies and Remote Sensing (CSTARS, www.cstars.ucdavis.edu), in the Department of Land, Air, and Water Resources at the University of California invites applications for a postdoctoral fellow position. The successful candidate will conduct research in the general area of large-scale agricultural and ecosystem dynamics focusing on detection and quantification of plant water status using airborne and satellite remote sensing data with ancillary weather, GIS and field data. A strong background in statistical methods and spectroscopy applied to spatial data, experience in image processing and programming (e.g., IDL, Matlab, R) is expected. In particular, candidates should have research experience with one or more types of imagers (e.g., AVIRIS, Hymap, MASTER, ASTER and MODIS). This project will test a model for retrieval of canopy water content and evapotranspiration from plant properties using a combination of field experiments and existing data and test whether this information provides insight into plant health and functioning. The preferred starting date is November 1, 2010. The initial appointment is for one year, renewable for up to two additional years subject to satisfactory progress, publications, and available funding. Salary will be commensurate with experience. For full consideration, please send via email a statement of research, a current curriculum vitae, and the names and contact information of three references to: David Riaño, Department of Land, Air, and Water Resources, University of California Davis , CA 95616 , driano@ucdavis.edu
