The Position:
Join our team in Brisbane to apply your skills in ecological modelling to inform research questions, and explore and extend data dealing with insect populations across space and time, including habitat occupancy, their movement between habitats, colonization rates, and multiple spatial scales.
This position is an opportunity to identify critical features of pest suppressive landscapes and contribute to guidelines on pest management practices that consider the landscape context whether it is through:
1. improving the integration of biodiversity conservation and agriculture, and assisting agricultural landholders to manage native vegetation or change crop rotations to benefit their industry,or
2. designing urban landscapes to achieve vector-safe communities. These projects are part of a national multi-agency collaboration, and require frequent communication, planning and decision making with team members.

To be successful you’ll have:
-A PhD in ecological based research, preferably spatially explicit models.
-Demonstrated experience developing spatially explicit models to assist with our understanding of population processes in a landscape context over time.
-Demonstrated potential to think in abstract or lateral terms about research objectives, conceptualizing, creating hypotheses and carrying out investigations requiring originality, creativity and innovation.
-Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication, negotiation and representational skills.
