Geomatics covers the science and technology of gathering different sources of geospatial data, which after storing, interpreting, analyzing, modelling and distributing, can be turned into useful geographic information. Geomatics involves the tools and techniques used in surveying, cartography, photogrammetry, remote sensing, satellite navigation systems, geographical information systems and other earth-related disciplines.

We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher with strong remote sensing and image processing background to be based at Masdar Institute, Abu Dhabi (UAE). The successful candidate will contribute to the ongoing research projects focusing on the use of multi-source remote sensing data for environmental monitoring and assessment.

Position Requirements

§        PhD in remote sensing or a related discipline preferably with some postdoctoral experience.

§        Demonstrated expertise/experience in spatio-temporal analysis and validation of multi-source satellite data.

§        Experience in advanced processing of multi-source satellite imagery in Matlab (and/or ENVI-IDL) environment.

§        Appropriate skills in batch processing large data sets and satellite database management.

§        Hands-on experience in using ESRI software ArcGIS Desktop and ability to integrate imagery with other GIS data.

§        Demonstrated ability to publish research findings in peer reviewed journals.

§        Excellent communication skills in English scientific writing/publishing and presentation.

 

The compensation package for this position is very competitive with a tax-exempt net salary ranging between US$ 70k and US$ 90k.
