Geomatics covers the science and technology of gathering different sources of geospatial data, which after storing, interpreting, analyzing, modelling and distributing, can be turned into useful geographic information. Geomatics involves the tools and techniques used in surveying, cartography, photogrammetry, remote sensing, satellite navigation systems, geographical information systems and other earth-related disciplines.

Earth Observatory of Singapoure - Research Fellow

Earth Observatory of Singapoure - Research Fellow for the project on statistical downscaling and disaggregation of regional climate data

We are looking to appoint a research fellow, ideally holding a PhD in climatology, hydrology, applied mathematics, systems analysis or a related field, to be involved in our upcoming projects on statistical downscaling and disaggregation of regional climate data considering temporal and spatial variability. The successful candidate is expected to help develop statistical approaches for building linkages between regional climate model (RCM) outputs and high-resolution local weather data, and examine the related uncertainties and complexities. He or she is also encouraged to collaborate and interact with other researchers from the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) and Institute of Catastrophe Risk Management (ICRM).

Candidates with a proven record of excellence in conducting research, expertise in developing and applying statistical methods, downscaling methods and other methods applicable for climate study and hydrological impact study are preferred.
This position will initially be offered for 1 year, renewable for up to 3 years depending on performance. Interested applicants are highly suggested to contact Asst/Prof Qin Xiaosheng (xsqin@ntu.edu.sg), Asst/Prof Cheung Sai Hung (shcheung@ntu.edu.sg), and Asst/Prof Koh Tieh Yong (kohty@ntu.edu.sg) for details before applying.
