FELLOWSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT (JOB OPPORTUNITY)

The MIDAS-6 research project (“SMOS ocean salinity and soil moisture products. Improvements and applications demonstration�, PI Dr. Jordi Font), which is part of the Spanish contribution to the European Space Agency Soil Moisture and Ocean Salinity mission (http://www.esa.int/esaLP/LPsmos.html), has been granted with a fellowship to carry out a PhD in the Department of Physical Oceanography of the Institut de Ciències del Mar (CSIC) in Barcelona (http://www.icm.csic.es/oce/).

The PhD will be carried out in the domain of SMOS salinity data exploitation by addressing the generation of level 4 salinity maps using data fusion techniques. This research will be integrated in the activities of the SMOS Barcelona Expert Centre on Radiometric Calibration and Ocean Salinity (http://www.smos-bec.icm.csic.es/)

Candidates (citizens from the European Union or having a residence permit in Spain) should be graduate students in Physics, Mathematics, Engineering or Marine Sciences with background in numerical and computation methods and geophysics.
